
NARA Redefines Fashion with a Commitment to Sustainability

As the fashion industry grapples with the environmental toll of fast fashion, a new wave of brands is emerging, determined to make a difference. NARA, a young and dynamic company based in Leuven, is leading the charge towards a more sustainable future.
Founded in 2023 by friends Jeroen, Ward, and Andries, NARA was born out of a shared vision: to create high-quality clothing that doesn’t compromise the planet or the people who make it. “Quality is our cornerstone,” says Jeroen. “It all starts with the materials we choose. Our T-shirts are crafted from 100% organic cotton, and for items like hoodies that need extra durability, we use recycled polyester sourced from PET bottles.”
But NARA’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond fabrics. The brand’s minimalist designs are intentionally versatile, ensuring that each piece can be worn across seasons, reducing the need for constant wardrobe updates. “Our slogan, ‘Wear with love,’ reflects our belief that clothing should be cherished, not discarded,” adds Ward.
Supporting the local economy is another key pillar of NARA’s philosophy. “By keeping our production and sales within Belgium and the Netherlands, we can maintain close oversight of working conditions and guarantee fair wages,” Jeroen explains. “We’re not just making clothes; we’re contributing to a healthier community.”
NARA also takes a thoughtful approach to packaging and shipping. “We exclusively use recycled and recyclable materials,” says Andries. “And whenever possible, we deliver by bike, eliminating the need for excessive packaging. It’s a small step, but each choice adds up.”
Despite their strong focus on sustainability, the road hasn’t been without its challenges. “Competing with large corporations that prioritize profits over principles is tough,” admits Andries. “They have the advantage of resources and budgets that we lack. But we’re confident that our focus on quality and sustainability will help us stand out.”
Looking ahead, NARA is committed to growing its impact and spreading its mission. “We’re just getting started,” says Ward. “The response so far has been incredibly encouraging, and it drives us to push for faster change in the fashion industry.
